The Best Facebook Groups For Writers ∣ Web Design Relief

Writing is typically a solitary endeavor, but that doesn’t mean you need to lead the life of a hermit to be a good writer. In fact, having the support of other writers can boost your creativity and confidence! At Web Design Relief, we know it’s important for writers to be able to ask questions, get encouragement, and share opinions. In-person writing groups are great for this, but you can also connect with other writers while wearing your fuzzy slippers and sitting at your desk. How? Facebook groups! There are many groups on Facebook geared toward writers and their interests. Our researchers have created this list of the best Facebook groups for writers. Pick one (or a few!) to join!

Our 10 Favorite Facebook Groups For Writers

Writers Helping Writers: Currently hovering around 290,000 members, this group is rather large. But, while it may not be a small, cozy community, it certainly has a lot of writers available to help with any questions or problems. They don’t allow promotions, so you won’t have to worry about being bombarded with sales pitches for other people’s books. This group focuses on supporting writers, so if that’s what you’re looking for, give it a shot!

Inner Circle Writers’ Group: With fewer than 10,000 members, this group is much smaller than some of the others—but it’s no less supportive! And while you’re not allowed to post promos on the main thread, they run a promotional thread for the group every Monday where you can promote your own writing projects.

Ask A Book Editor: Have you ever wished for advice from an actual editor? If your answer is yes, you’re in luck! The very top of their page description reads: “Post questions you have about the writing process and have them answered by an editor.” Pretty cool, huh?

Writers Write: This group only allows posts by the admins, so it’s mainly a great place to keep up with the latest news about writing. Join this group and your Facebook feed will be filled with helpful, interesting information!

Fantasy & Science Fiction Writers: In this group, you’re permitted (and encouraged!) to post snippets of your work and ask for feedback—it’s more similar to a workshop than many other groups. If you write fantasy or sci-fi and are looking for critique or help with your writing, this group might be the perfect place to find it.

Writing Bad: If you want to improve your writing skills but don’t feel confident enough for the larger groups, check out Writing Bad. Their About section states: “Writing Bad was founded with the intention of providing support and resources to writers of all skill levels so that they can improve their writing ability. We don’t believe in the concept of bad writing. We only believe in the concept of undeveloped writing.”

10-Minute Novelists: Are you looking for motivation, or trying to develop the habit of writing every day? Join this group of 16,000 writers who feel the same! With no self-promotion allowed, this is another fantastic group offering tips, inspiration, and a supportive, encouraging community ready to help time-crunched writers stick to a writing schedule.

Writers World: If you’re looking for honest, candid critiques, Writer’s World might be the group for you. The members are polite and kind, but you won’t find much ego-fluffing. This group is a great choice for writers who want to receive a clear, straightforward analysis of their work.

Beta Readers and Critique Partners: To find another writer willing to read and critique your full work, check out this group. Beta Readers and Critique Partners connects people who want to beta read with people who need beta readers. And they have calls for almost every writing genre!

Writer’s Relief Café: Of course, the reason the research experts at Web Design Relief recognize a good Facebook group for writers is because Writer’s Relief has one! Join this friendly, supportive writer’s café, try a writing prompt, and hang out with other writers. Members talk about writing, submitting, getting published, and more! The Café members often have incredible insights into others’ questions, and the Writer’s Relief admins regularly pop in to share their insights and expertise, including submission leads and tips!

Working with the Web Design Relief team was a total pleasure. They made the process easy, in-depth, professional, and lyrical. I wanted a site that leaned toward the bohemian and yet held an edge of minimalist sophistication. I couldn’t be happier with my very inviting and creative site! We should win awards with this one!

I cannot possibly detail how professional and helpful Web Design Relief has been in helping me launch my collection of short stories—there are just too many things they have done! They’ve been there for me all along the way, guiding me in developing my book and into the 21st century of web design and social media platforms. It could have been a bewildering journey; Instead it was one that was organized and so pleasant. Truly, Web Design Relief has blown me away by what they have created. The first time I watched my book trailer (who knew there were book trailers?), I cried. That team perfectly imaged what my book is about. I want to thank the whole team for their skill and creativity. I appreciate it so much.
